Gears Tactics offers top-down, turn-based tactical gameplay where players can freely explore the map without being confined to a grid. Characters can take three actions, such as taking cover, shooting enemies, or targeting any moving line of sight. Units can move and execute attacks on downed enemies. Additionally, players must destroy Emergency Holes to fend off the Locust enemies and secure their position.
If the friendly sustains too much damage to the players may need to revive and it will still lose a portion of their health. The game features five character classes, each with unique abilities. Players can explore various modes to acquire new skills and level up their characters. The game features two central characters and friendly units. If a unit dies in combat, it’s permanent.
