Players play the role of a Hollywood actor who hears the call of a mysterious director to take on the lead role in a movie shot on an ocean liner. The game begins with the actor running to the stage through the corridors of a sinking ship. They came to see the Rat King behind James’ actor, saying, “I’m sorry. You almost got it.” when he turned his head away. The game then shows the actor waking up and getting out of bed when the director criticizes them, saying, “They are a bad excuse.” The actor then gets up, goes upstairs, plays a reel, and walks out of the doorway as he begins his journey.

The dialogue says that the actor had previously been on a similar boat as a child, that they (with his siblings) had sneaked onto the boat to escape their abusive father. Life on the ship was hard for the children, especially for James, the younger brother. The two often struggled to find food and remain visible to the guards, which began to cost them. To make matters worse, the ship’s crew began to closely monitor the food rations, making it difficult to steal them. James and Lily tried to escape the ship.
